Yet again we go into a big match with an already small squad hampered by injury. We really only had eleven fully fit players yesterday with Gregor (Lamb) starting but playing through injury and Jamie (Mackay) on the bench just coming back from a long lay-off. Two others named on the bench weren’t even stripped so to say we were down to bare bones is an understatement.
All we ask of the lads is keep our shape, work hard and make sure we are still in the game. For the most part yesterday I felt we did this against a top side but unfortunately after going ahead through Kivi (Kyle Kivlichan) we shoot ourselves in the foot and concede two from set pieces and then a really avoidable third in the second half. Overall though, we felt we acquitted ourselves well against a top side with great depth.
There was a spell at the start of the second half when we maybe lost our way a bit but for us we were never really opened up or exposed. Our shape worked well and going ahead gave us something to work with and we created another couple of good chances in the first half and with a bit of luck might have gone into the break level.
Credit where credit is due though, Dunbar were maybe just worth the win and we wish them well in the next round.
We move on and if the application is like today in our remaining nine games I’m confident we will win more than we lose.
