Tam's thoughts on important three points

davidlamb33

We go into Saturday’s match knowing that it’s two teams desperate to gain three points to pull away a bit from the relegation danger zone. Although still having some of the lads playing through the pain barrier or just returning from longer term injury, it felt like a bit of a luxury to have four subs to choose from. It always felt like it was going to be a game of who wanted it more and I felt that we started the match really strongly, dominating the early stages and creating some half chances with only small margins denying us an opener.

After those opening stages, we seemed to drop off a bit and maybe started to panic and play a bit long and we go in at half time scoreless although we dominated possession with our ‘keeper Jordan (Moffat) having little to do.

The message at half time was a case of more of the same, get the tempo a bit higher again and the chances would come. Fortunately, we get this early in the second half. Scott Latto’s corner was a great delivery and Kyle (Kivlichan) meets it well with his effort coming off a Tweedmouth defender to give us the lead we felt we deserved.

The pattern of the game stayed the same for another ten minutes or so but a 1-0 you always give the opponents hope. Hope was all it was though with our lads working and covering the hard yards to a deserved three points.

Some good work all over the park yesterday with the back four dealing with everything that came at them but it was a real squad effort that got the job done and gets us a really important win.

We have a free week next weekend which again breaks the momentum a bit but what it does do is it gives some of the lads some time to nurse their injuries and hopefully be back refreshed in a fortnight when we have another big home match against Burntisland Shipyard.
