The difference a week makes!
After last weekend’s disappointing draw the boys bounced back in fine fashion. The pre- game chat largely focused around taking chances in the final third and making sure we start putting a positive run together. The lads have worked tirelessly on the training ground this week and they definitely put it all together in this cup tie. Ross (Lamb) hits the target with a free kick after two minutes and I felt the boys then go on to settle down a lot quicker than previous weeks. Harry (McGill) led the line fantastically today after his recent good form in front of goal and he continued to keep this up by adding our second on the half hour mark.
For large parts I felt we totally controlled the game however sloppy play probably allowed Fauldhouse a lifeline. After losing the goal we had to show a bit of composure. Fauldhouse kept working hard for each other as we knew they would. However being able to introduce the boys we did this afternoon allowed us to regain the stranglehold and from then on in I felt the game was comfortable. James (Clare) comes into the game at a time where we needed a spark and he gave us that. He scores two really good team goals which ended a pleasing afternoon for the Rovers.
I’ve been around this level of football for a while but the reception and accommodation from our hosts was first class. A real pat on the back to the committee of Fauldhouse United today. A club we wish all the very best to for the rest of their season.
