Anthony's thoughts on a convincing home win

davidlamb33

We went into this match with a threadbare squad having only eleven fit players today and we were expecting a difficult day against what is always a fit and well drilled Stirling University side. In the event though, that couldn't have been further from the truth as the lads bounced back from last week’s disappointment at Harthill to produce a thoroughly dominant display. I felt we were pretty much in control for the full game and barring an outstanding display for the Stirling ‘keeper, the margin of victory could have been much greater,

Stirling came with a very different style of play than we have been used to from them, far more direct and physical, but again I felt we coped well with this and kept our discipline throughout.

We could comfortably have been three up at half time and the away side wouldn't have anything to complain about but instead we find ourselves going in one down at the break with Uni quicker to react at a corner. However, the message in the changing room was to keep the heads up, not unnecessarily chase the game and just be a bit more clinical and we were confident of getting back into the game.

Harry (McGill) responded well and got us level early into the second half and despite going behind again we never lost our composure and goals from Kivi (Kyle Kivlichan) and Scotty Inglis gave us well-deserved victory.

It really was a night and day performance from last Saturday and we now just need to show that level of commitment and bring a bit more consistency and we will continue to pick up valuable points.

Unfortunately, the momentum stops a bit again next weekend when we break from league duty to take on Premier Division Dunbar United in the League Cup. It’s one we are looking forward to though and one where the lads should be able to relax and pit their wits against a top side.
